The Lebreton Flats Diversion Chamber Project is part of the larger City of Ottawa Light Rail Project comprising of three cast in place concrete chambers that need to be constructed fifty feet below grade. This work was the second stage to work successfully completed by Doran Contractors in 2010. A shoring system with no cross braces was required in order to allow the excavation of the deep shaft and permit the forming and placing of the concrete structures. A very detailed flow management plan was required to divert combined sewage and storm overflows away from the work area to allow the concrete work to be completed. The flows could mostly be handled by the gates and weirs originally constructed in 2010.
